Do you hear the ego in that, that knowledge can cure it? 2. Do you honestly feel you cannot break your sobriety because you have the education and you understand yourself so well? 3. Take this paragraph and personalize it through your own experience. 4. Workshop question: Do you in your heart of hearts have just a little piece of "I know so much about it, I'll never go back?" 5. Breaking down this paragraph further, own it. If I still think I don't need the power of God, what will be my action plan? If I do know I need God, rewrite your action plan for what you need to do to stay connected. 6. Thinking of a sponsee coming to you, what would you say to them about this paragraph? Overall... 7. What would you say is the lack of “ability to think straight?” What is your definition of the ability to think straight? 2. Reference to Jim. Do you think it is an “extreme case?” How do you relate to it? 3. Paragraph 2. Is that kind of thinking characteristic of how you have been in your life and how you think now? Regarding any addiction. 4. When was the last time you deliberately got drunk on something knowing it was insane? 5. Write on this: Alcoholism is a mental illness. The solution is spiritual connection with God who will guide you to sane behaviors, guide you through this mental illness, and keep you on the road to recovery from insane thoughts. 6. What is your definition of justification? When was the last time you justified insane behavior? 7. Write about what happens when you cave in. 8. Write about the consequences if you went out on a spree. 9. Workshop writing: In your life now, in what area are you “strangely insane?” And what do you do about it? Workshop writing: What does it mean to you, "All went well for a time but he failed to enlarge his spiritual life"? If you had to talk on this or to a newcomer, how would you explain this sentence? Tell on yourself: How did you fail to enlarge your spiritual life? 2. Suddenly, the thought crossed my mind...Have you had a thought cross your mind lately? What was that thought? Positive or negative? 3. When you get an insane thought, what do you do? List what you would do. 4. How would you explain the "suddenly" experience to someone you sponsor? 5. What does it mean, "I vaguely sensed I was not being any too smart." What is this (voice or sense) for you? 6. Summarize the "suddenly" paragraph using your own experience, strength and hope. Workshop writing: Do you take your disease deadly serious and yet be humble and laugh at yourself? Or do you beat yourself up? 2. Regarding your powerlessness, do you "get it?" 3. "-this utter inability to leave it alone no matter how great the necessity or the wish." Write your own experience of the baffling feature of alcoholism as it is played out in your own life. 4. Do you think it would be wise for you to go out and try drinking again to see if you are an alcoholic? If your partner or child comes to you saying "I don't know if I'm an alcoholic," would you tell them to go out and try some controlled drinking? What would you do in that situation a) with yourself and b) with a loved one? 5. What sort of thinking dominates an alcoholic who repeats time after time drinking again? 6. Why does he walk into a bar? Why did you? What were you thinking? 7. In sharing about your experiences with addictions, are you vague? END |
