Soul Work: Reading: Chapter 2 in the AA Big Book, "There is a Solution," page 17. Paragraph 1 to "Captain's table" in paragraph 2. Definition: Look up "hopeful." Group workshop discussion: Buddy question #1 below. Buddy Questions: Q1: "There is a solution." When you see this, what is your first response? What emotion does it bring up? Do you believe there is a solution? Are you trusting it Q2: Diagram what the triangle represents. Draw a triangle. Put God at the top, fellowship on the bottom right, your name on the bottom left. Arrows on both sides going up. Arrows going both directions on the bottom. The word "we" in the center of the triangle. How are you doing with all parts of the triangle? How are you doing with a higher power, going to fellowship, and is fellowship coming to you? Q3: Do you believe "hopeless" is a good place to be? Have you gotten to that state? Look up the word "hopeless." Q4: Write about defeated pride. Q5: Write about your version of "hopeless." Example, Stephanie's description of hopeless: "Of myself, I am nothing. With God, I have hope. With God, I can/will recover." Q6: When you have a slip in your recovery, can you do the following: 1. Steps one, two and three, 2. Get 100 percent honest about it, and 3. Move on? Q7: Do you feel when in AA (or other) that you're all clinging to a life raft to be saved? Q8: Write about how the fellowship has changed your life.
