Soul Work: Chapter 2 in the AA Big Book, "There is a Solution," page 23, paragraph 2, "Once in a while..." to end of the page, "...the happy day may not arrive." Definitions: Look up malady, baffled, suspect (verb), rouse, abnormal, lethargy Questions: 1. How are you "once in a while" telling the truth to your accountability people? How are you living with the truth to your accountability people? Have you reached 100 percent truth or is it 95 percent? If it's under 100 percent, why? What's going on that you don't have accountability people to be honest with? Is it pride, shame, guilt? 2. "Why" is the wrong question. It's "what can we do about it?" Write about the difference between figuring out why, and what am I going to do about it. 3. Write out some of the excuses you've used, and how did it work for you giving yourself an excuse. 4. Are you baffled by your own behavior today, or by anything in your life today? 5. Do you have an obsession that somehow you'll beat the game on addiction or anything else in your life? 6. Is there any such thing as exerting your willpower? Is there any hope that you will rouse yourself from lethargy and assert your willpower? Write about it. 7. Workshop question. Underline in paragraph 4, "real alcoholic." Write what your definition of a real alcoholic is. What happy day may not arrive? END
