This Week's Soul Work: Opening reading: Book “As Bill Sees It" page 73. Workshop text: As part of Step 6, continuing the book "Drop The Rock," page xii "Mike shares his experience" to "What did these things ever do for you?" midway down on the next page, xiii. 1. What does it mean to you to be entirely ready to have God remove all defects of character? And what does it mean to have the AA promise of spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection? How does that lay in your heart? 2. Give a recent example in your life of spiritual progress rather than spiritual perfection. 3. What is for you the "best possible attitude" you can take in starting this book? After all these years in recovery, how do you feel that this book is now telling us that 6 and 7 is a lifetime job? 4. Referring to page 101, make 3x5 cards if you hadn't done this already. Put each defect and any major points on one side of each card, and the corresponding program principle on the other side. Share the cards with your buddy group. 5. Answer the two questions on page xiii: a) Why are you holding on to these things? b) What did these things ever do for you? (end)

What came to mind? 2. Are you on the boat or are you swimming? 3. Who do you have in your life saying to you, "Swim, swim, drop the rock?" 4. Is there anything around your neck causing you to sink? 5. When you're vaguely aware of something around your neck, what are your steps to figuring out what it is? 6. Do you have a group or belong to a group so that if you're in a bad way, you have the support? 7. Do you have any of these today: Resentments, fear, dishonesty, self-pity, intolerance, anger? Do an inventory, write about them, and share. 8. Describe the last time you let go of something and how good it felt. What did you do to let go of it and how did it feel afterward? 9. Who are you cheering for and applauding? 10. Who are you looking at in life that's swimming, maybe going under, and what are you doing for them? Are you being an encourager? What would be your ideal way of handling a dispute as an emotionally recovered person? 5. When you're with another person and you see it one way and they see it another, are you willing to speak up and share how you see it? Regarding character defects, has God revealed to you what you need to work on? 2. Are you patient with yourself? On a scale of 1 to 10, how patient are you with yourself? 3. Where have you seen improvement in character defects being lifted out? 4. Are you "entirely ready" in those areas you need improvement? 5. Describe to the best of your ability your "entirely ready" experience. 6. What is your degree of readiness to give up your character defects? 7. Go through the list of character defects under the Step Six handouts on the website: "Step 6 Character Defects vs Character Assets." Print it out. Bring it to Quiet Time. Write out your character defects as God shows them to you. Get your index cards. Write the defect on one side and the other side write the asset. On the card, write your degree of readiness to let it go, and if you find resistance, write why. (End) |
