Step 4 in the AA "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions" book, Page 53, "Our egomania digs two disastrous pitfalls. Either we insist upon dominating the people we know, or we depend upon them far too much. If we lean too heavily on people, they will sooner or later fail us, for they are human, too, and cannot possibly meet our incessant demands." 1. FEAR. Face Everything (with God) And Recover. When was the last time you faced something with God that you were really afraid of? 2. When have you found fear was a starting point for better things? 3. Have you seen in your life that when something is supposed to happen, every door opens without us pushing, prodding, dictating or dominating? Have you noticed when it goes smoothly, that it's God's will? 4. Look up "egomania." EGO - Ease God Out. Write about how you were, how you changed, and what helped you change. 5. Which do you fit into -- dominating or depending? Take 5-8 people and list them, go to Quiet Time, and ask God, "Am I dominating or depending far too much?" Could be both. 6, Write about the difference in your own life between an incessant demand and asking for realistic help. Give an example of an incessant demand and an example of asking realistically. 7. Are there times now in recovery that you put incessant demands on yourself? If so, what is it? What's your action plan to be realistic? 8. Is there anything in your life that you are lying about today? (end)

Step 4 in the AA "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions" book, Page 53, "But it is from our twisted relations..." ending at Page 54 "The primary fact." 1. Write specifically about this sentence from page 52: If I'm unable to change the present state of my affairs, am I willing to take measures necessary to shape my life to conditions as they are? How can you rise above your present state of affairs that you're not thrilled with? Can you ask for help; do you know where to get help? 2. In what ways are you still suffering from twisted relations? In what ways do you feel family friends and society at large are still suffering from your lack of recovery? Do you owe amends? Ask God whether you still owe any amends. 3. The Big Book says the root of our problem is selfishness and self-centeredness. Page 52 of the 12/12 says the primary fact is our total inability to form a true partnership. How do I see that playing itself out in my life today? 4. How and what can I do to change from being selfish and self-centered, to being a centered self in accepting others the way they are? 5. Re-read bottom paragraph Page 52 to Page 54 "The primary fact." Meditate upon it, and see what your Higher Power brings up for you. (end) 1/10/2023 0 Comments Recording For January 10, 2023Tuesday All Addictions Big Book Step Study Workshop (January 10, 2023)

Step 4 in the AA "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions" book, Page 51, "Also of importance..." 1. What areas of your life can you get stressed over? Where are you not at peace overall on a day to day basis? 2. Where do you have fear in your financial and emotional security? 3. Have you made peace with your past, your need for emotional security, and what you did to attain it? 4. If you're not at peace with your past actions, do you see how you need to go back to Step One in admitting you're powerless over your past actions? To go to God with all the sincerity you have and take Step Two, and let go and let God direct your actions in Step 3? Then write about what you're not at peace about, where you were selfish, dishonest, self-seeking and afraid, see what was going on, what was your part, to get yourself ready to take Step Five? And dig deeper into character assets and defects so you can be ready to make amends? 5. Are you willing to look at the worst in yourself without fear, knowing that it's about being the best person you can possibly be, in order to help others? 6. Answer these 3 questions from the reading on Page 51: In addition to my drinking problem, what character defects contributed to my financial instability? Did fear and inferiority about my fitness for my job destroy my confidence and fill me with conflict? Did I try to cover up those feelings of inadequacy by bluffing, cheating, lying, or evading responsibility? (end buddy questions) |
