Take an inventory of yourself. a. Have you made living amends to your family? b. Have you made formal amends to your family? c. Are you living those amends? In your family are you living as one among many or is it always about you and your recovery? Q3. Have you accepted what you are? [For instance: Are you a moderate in one area, e.g. cluttering and then perhaps a problem gambler and maybe a food addict.] Q4. Do you accept what you are in the areas you know you have had problems with and addiction? (If you do not understand the difference you will probably get very discouraged). Write this down: We have lost our right to find fault with other people. Q5. Am I willing to accept that? Write this down: In Al-Anon sobriety is to be kind and courteous. Q6. How are you doing with this? [In the Big Book we heard two other words: friendliness and helpfulness].

Q1. Does the word charity have a good connotation for you? Write on your thinking about charity. Do you see the l2th step, helping others, as a privilege? Q3. Acronym for TIME: Things I Must Experience. Write on this. Q4. Are you impatient with your recovery? Or have you gone past that and are truly at peace with your recovery? ‘We simply do not stop drinking so long as we place dependence upon other people ahead of dependence on God.’ Q5. Write on this. Q6. What happened when you only relied on people and the program? Q7. What happened when when you decided relying on people and the program was not working and you placed your dependence on God? ‘Burn the idea into the consciousness of every man that he can get well regardless of anyone. The only condition is that he trust in God and clean house.’ Q8. Are you willing to trust God and clean house? Ends 2/8/2018 0 Comments Recording For February 8, 2018(week 317) 8 February 2018

Ask yourself: How helpful was I last week to people in my life other than 12 steps? List the people and the examples. Q2. It is not a matter of giving my time that is in question but in when and how to give. Write on this using your experience strength and hope. How did it work out when you gave too much of your time? And when you did not give enough? Q3. The minute we put our work on a service [co-dependency] plane, the alcoholic commences to rely upon our assistance rather than upon God. Write on that sentence. Look up: commence. Q4. What are some common type of boundaries people need to set with those they sponsor? Q5. How do we let God be the centre of a sponsoring relationship? [For example: Never do anything without saying the 3rd step prayer, pray with the sponsee, encourage them by asking: ‘Are you having Quiet Time every day?’ and reinforcing that their time with God is the most important action they do every day. ] Q6 Are you the type of sponsor that people can be 100% honest with? And do you have the kind of sponsor that you can be 100% honest with? ends 2/1/2018 0 Comments Recording For February 1, 2018Week 316 February 1, 2018 Big Book Step Study
We are coming to the end of the reading of Personal Stories in the Anonymous Press BB on the Tues 8a EST Wkshp. What will follow next is a weekly reading of Living Sober in conjunction with a relevant reading from As Bill Sees It -- both wonderful conference-approved literature. Step Twelve cont'd "Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs." Today's reading: BB p. 97:1-97:3 end of paragraph "Never avoid these responsibilities, but be sure you are doing the right thing if you assume them." Q1a) List the ways you could be aiding in someone's destruction rather than their recovery. b) Then list the ways you could be aiding in their recovery. In other words, list all the ways you can be a good sponsor (e.g. #1: Be an Encourager) Q2) Write down: 'If you can't help an alcoholic, don't hurt them'. What does that mean to you? Q3) How have you handled sponsees that don't respond (i.e. they don't show up one day or time after time)? Write out the story. Sponsor question: Q) What is the definition of a boundary in the Twelve Step process? A boundary is given so we do not hurt another person. Boundaries are to protect others from ourselves. How? By being honest about what we can reasonably give. That's why we have to be really clear with others about what we can and cannot give. Ends |
