Take the vignette Stephanie described and identify one of your own recently faced. Write about how you handled it emotionally. 2. Are you going to God? Who are you asking for feedback in your situations after you go to God? Name them, and do you use them? 3. Are you willing to work toward emotional sobriety as you did toward physical sobriety? 4. Paragraph beginning "So Step Six" -- How is your attitude today? Take all the important people in your life; what's your attitude toward them? Do an inventory of people in your life and include yourself. 5. How do you address difficult people in sobriety, and how do you feel God can move you along in a more emotionally sober way? (end)

Have you seen that in your life? 2. Where are you with the issue raised in paragraph two Page 65 about the measure of our character defects? 3. Sticks analogy: Can’t control the sticks in my life but can control the core, the core being God- centeredness and our disciplines of recovery. Write about this in your life. 4. Give an example of a stick in your life, something you didn’t see coming or notice, and it tripped you up. Write about the need for having a strong core in God. Handout attached to this email is an optional “How to 12-step a problem.” 1. As a result of steps 1-5, do you feel a nearness to your Creator? 2. Have you had a spiritual experience? Write about it if you feel comfortable sharing it. 3. Has the feeling come that the drink (or other) problem has disappeared? 4. Do you feel like you’re walking hand in hand with God today? 5. Did you do this hour when you finished your fifth step? Did you thank God that you know Him better? 6. Did you ask God if you omitted anything? 7. Do you feel free today? Is there any area of life that you don’t feel free in? 8. How are you feeling about the step work? Is it solid? Are the stones properly in place? 9. Have we skimped on the cement put into the foundation? 10. Write on “What God brings me TO, God will bring me THROUGH.” 11. Have we tried to get these promises without putting the work in? 12. Can you answer all these questions truthfully with God and another human being? 13. Look up “indispensable.” 14. Action: Are we now ready to let God remove from us all the things which we have admitted are objectionable? a) Get 3x5 index cards. b) Go to Quiet Time. c) Say Third Step Prayer and Set Aside Prayer. d) Ask God, “Show me what is objectionable in my life.” Note: Attached is an optional 2-page handout “How to 12-step a problem” that a workshop member shared which may be of interest to you. |
