How have these assets flowered and grown? Do you feel that you need to bring them out and start working on them again reading them every day? Meditation is our step out into the sun. Q2. How do you meditate? Get specific. What books/picture do you use? When do you meditate? Does meditation bring you out into the sun, out of yourself, out of the disease? Q3.a) How would you explain meditation to somebody who is fairly new? b) How would you differentiate meditation from prayer? Q4. What if a new person ask: “Is it necessary to meditate?” Q5. What would you reply if a new person said: “Step 11 is awfully religious. Is It important to have prayer and meditation or what you call Quiet Time?” Q6. Do you feel you really don’t know how to meditate or are you comfortable meditating? Q7. Google St Francis of Assisi to learn how he went through the emotional wringer. Welcome to our new website. Call back number 641 715 3900 pin no. 956666# (available for a week) Open study buddy group on Sundays 11-12am EST 712 432 0800 pin no. 587213# AA 12 x 12 Step 11 From last paragraph on page 97 “Those of us who have come to… Soul work Page 98:1 There is a direct linkage among self-examination, meditation, and prayer. Above self-examination write ‘inventory.’ Page 98:2 As we have seen, self-searching is the means by which we bring new vision, action, and grace to bear upon the dark and negative side of our natures. Above action write ‘Action Plan.’ Above dark and negative side write ‘selfishness.’ Q1. Are you doing your gratitudes and living in the attitude of gratitude? [If you are, you are going to have unshakeable willingness to do self-examination and prayer. And if you are not, you can pray for help to do so.] Through self-examination, meditation and prayer you make the quality of your life. We do have self-will and we can will ourselves to be grateful for what we have. Q2. If you are grateful for what you have got you are never unhappy with what you have been given. Write on this, giving three examples from your life. The first two paragraphs on Page 98 beginning: ‘There is a direct linkage among self-examination, meditation and prayer…’ ‘As we have seen, self-searching is the means by which we bring…’ These are promises that Bill is giving us. Q3. Break down the above two paragraphs and own them for yourself. Q4. Write the basic definition of humility: I can’t, You can, I am going to ask You. How would you, in your own words, explain humility? Ends 6/15/2017 0 Comments Recording For June 15, 2017(Week 285) 15 June 2017 12 Step Big Book All Addictions workshop.
Call back number 641 715 39000 pin no. 956666# (available for a week) AA 12 x 12 Step 11 “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” From the beginning of the step until the end of the third paragraph. Look up: sought, recoiled, obstinately. Q1.Do you have in the back of your mind that attitude that prayer and meditation is really not necessary? Why you think you have that attitude. If you did in the past what changed it? Q2. Are you rebelling against the idea of bowing down before the God of your understanding? And if you are, why do you think you are rebelling? Many of us had strong logic too which “proved” there was no God whatever. What about all the accidents, sickness, cruelty, and injustice in the world? What about all those unhappy lives which were the direct result of unfortunate birth and uncontrollable circumstances? Surely there could be no justice in this scheme of things, and therefore no God at all. Q3. Are you going to be bemoaning the cruelty and injustice in the world or are you going to with God in Quiet Time and with an action plan overcome it with a positive attitude? Q4. Two mothers whose sons had accidents were both at the hospital. One mother was moaning the other was saying: With God this is going to prove how great God is. And how God works through my son. Where are you in relation to the story of the two mothers? Step 1, I admit I am powerless over my refusal to try prayer and meditation and my life is unmanageable Step 2) Came to believe that I could try to make prayer and meditation the first and most important action in my life. Step 3) I made the decision to take the action to pray and meditate. Q5 Are you willing to put your resistance to prayer and meditation through Steps 1, 2 and 3, asking for help? Page 87 from last paragraph:- …“Thy will be done.” We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient. We do not tire so easily, for we are not burning up energy foolishly as we did when we were trying to arrange life to suit ourselves. We alcoholics are undisciplined. So we let God discipline us in the simple way we have just outlined. But this is not all. There is action and more action. “Faith without works is dead.” The next chapter is entirely devoted to Step Twelve. Definition of worry: Its like sitting in a rocking chair, you put in a lot of energy but go nowhere. Q1. “Thy will be done.” How do you live that? Give four or five recent things from your life that you have been having an issue with (for example for Stephanie it was exercise) and how you brought these to God. What was God’s answer, your Action Plan and did you get Accountability around it? Q2a). Look up: moderate. How is moderate for you today in recovery? b) When you see you are not being moderate what do you do? Q3. Are you still trying to arrange life to suit yourself? b) Are you willing to bring this to God? Q4. “We alcoholics are undisciplined”. Write about the past and the present in relation to this. Q5.”Faith without works is dead.” What does this mean to you? Q6. Page 87 from last paragraph:- As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action. We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show, humbly saying to ourselves many times each day “Thy will be done.” We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient. We do not tire so easily, for we are not burning up energy foolishly as we did when we were trying to arrange life to suit ourselves. It works - it really does. We alcoholics are undisciplined. So we let God discipline us in the simple way we have just outlined. Soul work acronym for PAUSE: Pray And Use Spiritual Energy (Suggest you write this in your Big Book) We do not tire so easily Write in the margin next to this: ’11 step prayer.’ Q1 How did you do this week with: a) not running the show? b) humbly saying to yourself many times: Thy Will be Done? Q2. How many times this week were you in danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or making a foolish decision? Q3. How long did you stay in excitement of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions before you went to God, or did a spot check inventory, a nightly review, you called somebody. How long did it take? Q4. How many times did you stop and pause instead? Q5. Did you see how much more smoothly and efficiently your life went when you stopped, paused asked God for help, did a quick inventory or made a quick phone call. Or just said: I am not dealing with this right now. I will take it to Quiet Time later. I will talk to someone later and were really able to put it out of your mind? Q6. How long have I struggled with the discipline of Quiet Time? Q7.It works It really does. Do I really believe that IT is God that makes the difference? Q8. Faith without works is dead. What does that mean to you? |
