This Week's Soul Work: Reading: Chapter 3, "More About Alcoholism,” top of page 40 "He was positive..." to end of second paragraph "...keeping on guard." 1. What does the whole totality of sobriety mean to you? 2. How are you dealing with the "I, self and me?" Are you growing up? Do you feel you can say "I am sober and live a sober life today?" Not all about me? 3. Workshop question: Take out the "alcohol" in More About Alcoholism. Write "More about I, self and me." How are you doing in your sobriety? Is it all about I, self and me? What does that mean? 4. How much self-knowledge fixes anything today for you? 5. Write this down: Self-knowledge itself is not bad. It's a good thing. How is it a good thing? 6. Write about when self-knowledge be a detriment. Give one example of both self-knowledge being a good thing, and self-knowledge being a detriment. 7. Are you a Fred? Are you a Fred when it comes to something else in your life besides alcohol? For example, a relationship you know is toxic, or in some other area besides alcohol? 8. How many of you ever felt you would "never do it again?" 9. What does the subtle insanity preceding the first drink look like? (Remember your own to help a newcomer.) 10. What gives me the ability to have compassion and tell my story to somebody? 11. Write this down: "My willpower is excellent. My willpower gives me the ability to go to God." Are you going to "stop, drop and pray" without willpower? When you want to drink and that thought suddenly occurs, what do you have to do? You have to use your willpower to "stop, drop and pray" for help. 12. Will you use your willpower to go to God, or willpower to go to drink? 13. Willpower. How is it good? How can it be used in self-destructive way? 14. Write on progress not perfection. END
