Everyone is welcome to attend these open study buddy groups. They both use the same number and code: Sundays 11 a.m. EST and Tuesdays 7 a.m. EST at (319) 527-3511 code 587213. This Week's Soul Work: Reading: Chapter 3, "More About Alcoholism,” first paragraph page 42, to second paragraph, "...was pretty drastic." 1. Who was the first person who told you about Alcoholics Anonymous? Do you remember their name? 2. Were you insulted or relieved when someone first mentioned to you about a 12-step program? 3. Look up "concede." Have you been able to concede? 4. How are you doing working the tools in your fellowship today? 5. ...if I thought myself alcoholic and if I were really licked this time. Are you willing to concede on those both propositions? If not, write about it. If you are, write about it. 6. Write out how you would explain the alcoholic mentality to a newcomer. 7. Would you classify yourself as having a hopeless condition in your addictions? 8. Give one experience of a hopeless condition in your own experience. 9. Have you reached that point yet where you have had to give up the conviction you can do the job yourself? 10. Do you have someone in your life who outlined the spiritual answer and program of action? Acknowledge them. "Thank you for being my sponsor, someone I trust, giving me the ability to tell you the hardest area of my life." 11. What were "their proposals?" Do you know what their proposals were? If you're scratching your head, try "the 12 steps." Admit you are powerless, cannot do it yourself, and make a decision you are not going to be in charge. 12. What is your program of action? 13. Is your program saving your life? 14. Workshop question: How can you say the program of action though entirely sensible, was pretty drastic? How can you explain that to a newcomer, or yourself? Announcement: The Tuesday open study-buddy group is starting at 7 a.m. EST now. Call Lorraine at 248-752-7484 for more information END
