This Week's Soul Work: Reading Reference Chapter 2 in the AA Big Book, "There is a Solution," beginning paragraph 3 on page 25, to page 26, end of first paragraph, "...explanation for his fall." Definition: Look up, "impossible." Questions: 1. What does "half measures" look like to you? 2. What does "full measures" look like to you? 3. Write about your response to Stephanie's belief: "I believe the greatest gift of my first meeting was the feeling that while life was impossible, there was hope." 4. Reference in the third paragraph, "...if we had passed into the region from which there is no return through human aid..." Were you in that situation when you first came in? Did you become so desperate that you were going to go on to the bitter end? 5. Workshop question: a) Are you willing to make the effort to have a quiet time where you go to your higher power of your understanding, ask for guidance for your day, and have accountability around it? b) Have you reached a point where you really want spiritual help? And c) Are you willing to accept the spiritual help you get? 6. Reference page 26, first paragraph: "...he believed he had acquired such a profound knowledge of the inner workings of his mind and its hidden springs that relapse was unthinkable." Do you believe that if you have this profound knowledge, you can stay sober? 7. Reading same paragraph, what is your explanation for his fall? (Stephanie says hers is "no mention of a spiritual experience.") What would you say is an explanation for his fall? 8. Write about this, regarding helping others: There is a difference between a request for help, and a demand for help. Buddy suggestion: In your groups or one-on-one buddy meetings, first thing, each take accountability for the past week's quiet time. END
